The Pebbles We Keep is a landmark eight movement Scottish Song Cycle written by Monica McGhee. It is the first song cycle in the classical music cannon in the Scots Language, celebrating the poetry of Scottish Women across a broad spectrum of history. The cycle features the first ever poem by a Scottish female poet to be published back in 1603- Ane Godlie Dreame, and goes all the way to modern day with The Pebbles We Keep by living poet Lisa Kennedy. The world premiere of this piece took place on November 23rd 2025 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and featured a line up of 8 Scottish female singers who brought to life a movement each.
